Our devices may make us feel more connected, but are we? Join us for a lively discussion on social media and its impact on art, relationships, and our psyche. Sherry Turkle, author of the acclaimed book Alone Together, questions if our social networks are making us more, not less, isolated. Helen Schulman, author of This Beautiful Life, examines the dark side of the Internet and its potential to disrupt family bonds. Artist Rachel Perry Welty speaks about recording details of her life, incorporating Facebook posts in her art, and using Twitter as a performance space.

Continuing Education Credits:
Participants must attend the entire symposium (signing in and out) to receive credit. The Boston Institute for Psychotherapy is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. BIP maintains responsibility for this program and its content. NASW and MMCEP/MaMHCA have authorized this course. Participants receive 3.5 CE credits.

Parking and Public Transportation:
Paid parking is available in the garage on Museum Road. Pay for your parking at automated kiosks located in the lobby before you leave the museum. The parking fee for MFA members is $4 each half hour; $14 maximum for the day. Parking fee for non-members is $6 each half hour or $24 maximum for the day. To get to the museum by public transportation, take the MBTA Green Line E train to the Museum of Fine Arts stop, or an Orange Line train to the Ruggles stop.

On View at the MFA:
Museum admission is not required to attend the symposium or to visit the restaurants or shops. Admission is required to visit the galleries.
