POST GRADUATE TRAINING PROGRAMS
Lisa Sutton, Ph.D., LICSW

Director, Clinical Training

Our training programs combine theory seminars and case conferences with intensive supervision of clinical practice for a rich, consolidating experience.

"The BIP grounded me in psychodynamic theory and practice and gave me a community of colleagues who help sustain me in this work."

"The BIP is a home that accepts diversity of thought and spirit. It nurtured and challenged our class as it invited us to journey into new psychic territories of risk and empathy."

"The BIP became my intellectual home, an analytic playspace for my unthought known."

CLINICAL FELLOW PROGRAM

A two-year or three-year program in individual and group psychodynamic psychotherapy to practicing clinicians wishing to deepen their theoretical base and refine their therapeutic skills. The program is part-time, enabling fellows to continue working. After graduating, Fellows may continue to work with their patients by taking them either into agency or private practice; for many fellows, this creates the nucleus of a new private practice.

The training year begins in September and culminates at graduation the following June.

The Program provides you with:
  • Greater clinical versatility and training in a competitive market
  • The nucleus of a private practice
  • Readiness to sit for a licensure examination
  • Confidence in professional competence and skills
  • The support of colleagues and membership in a respected professional community
Program Highlights
  • Intensive individual and group supervision
  • Seminars integrating theory and practice
  • Case Conferences and Grand Rounds
  • Group therapy training
  • Collegial involvement in a unique multidisciplinary community
  • Accepted for psychologist postdoctoral licensure requirements
  • Part-time programs
  • Clinical Fellow Program option to practice open-term therapy in the Institute's clinic, building a future private practice
